AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION contains Streptomycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Aminoglycosides. AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION is used to manage moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible strains of bacteria which includes tuberculosis infection (caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria) and non-tuberculosis infections (caused by Pasteurella pestis/ tularensis, brucella, H. ducreyi, Klebsiella granulomatis, and/or H. influenzae bacterium) in affected individuals.
AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION should not be received by patients allergic to Streptomycin, and/or other aminoglycosides.
Before receiving AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have cranial (skull) nerve problems, vestibular nerve (responsible for motion and position) impairment, severe liver disease, and/or kidney problems (such as impaired kidney function, renal insufficiency, prerenal azotemia).
AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy since the medicine may cause ototoxicity (damage to the hearing/balance organs) in foetus. The medicine is advised to be received with caution by breast feeding women since the medicine may pass through breast milk.
AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION should be administered with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and is advised to be received with caution by elderly patients (aged 59-years and above) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of receiving AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION are vestibular ototoxicity (associated with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, internal spinning sensation), paraesthesia (prickling/tingling sensation) of face, fever, rash, red itchy welts, and/or eosinophilia (associated with symptoms such as rash, itching, asthma). Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

Directions of Use
AMBISTRYN S 0.75g INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a muscle as an intramuscular injection, or into a vein as an intravenous injection/infusion. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
