




AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) or a certain type of chest pain called angina, a rare form of which is Prinzmetal's or variant angina. It contains Amlodipine which belongs to the group of Anti-hypertensives. In patients with high blood pressure AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET works by relaxing blood vessels, so that blood passes through them more easily. In patients with angina AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET works by improving blood supply to the heart muscle which then receives more oxygen and as a result chest pain is managed. This medicine does not provide immediate relief of chest pain from angina.
AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET is not recommended if you have narrowing of the aortic heart valve (aortic stenosis) or cardiogenic shock or suffer from heart failure after a heart attack. It should be used with caution if you have recent heart attack or heart failure, severe increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis) or any liver disease.
The safety of AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET in pregnancy or breastfeeding has not been established. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine. AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET has not been studied in children under the age of 6 years. It should only be used for hypertension in children and adolescents from 6 years to 17 years of age. AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. The most common side effects of taking AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET are dizziness, headache, nausea, edema (fluid retention). Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.
Take AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow AMLOGARD 5MG TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
