Budecort Respules 1mg contains Budesonide 1mg, a corticosteroid medicine used to prevent and control the symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It works by reducing inflammation in the airways, making breathing easier. Budecort Respules 1mg is intended for inhalation using a nebulizer and should be used regularly as prescribed by your doctor to achieve its full effect. It is important to remember that Budecort Respules 1mg is not for relieving sudden asthma attacks; a separate rescue inhaler should be used for that purpose.
Uses:
- Asthma: Used for the long-term control and prevention of asthma symptoms in adults and children. It helps to reduce airway inflammation, making breathing easier and preventing asthma attacks.
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): Prescribed to manage the symptoms of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It helps to reduce flare-ups and improve lung function.
Directions of Use
Use Budecort Respules 1mg exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is for inhalation only and should be administered using a nebulizer.
- Twist open one respule and squeeze all its contents into the nebulizer chamber.
- Connect the nebulizer chamber to the mouthpiece or face mask.
- Sit upright and breathe calmly and deeply through the mouthpiece or mask until the mist stops forming (usually takes 5-10 minutes).
- After inhalation, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and spit it out. This helps prevent side effects like oral thrush.
- Clean your nebulizer equipment after each use according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Budecort Respules 1mg can cause side effects, though not everyone experiences them. Most side effects are mild and temporary.
Common Side Effects:
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Hoarseness or voice changes
- Oral thrush (a fungal infection in the mouth, characterized by white patches). Rinsing your mouth after use can help prevent this.
Less Common/Serious Side Effects (Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of these):
- Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of the face/lips/tongue, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing)
- Bronchospasm (sudden wheezing or shortness of breath after inhalation)
- Eye problems (blurred vision, cataracts, glaucoma)
- Increased blood sugar levels
- Adrenal suppression (rare, usually with long-term high doses)
- Mood changes or sleep disturbances
