Unlike ulcerative colitis, it cannot be diagnosed using any normal diagnostic techniques (like colonoscopy). Inflammation can be detected only under a microscope, hence the name microscopic colitis. It is characterized by chronic watery diarrhea with rectal bleeding, stomach pain, weight loss, and anemia. Crohn's disease is also a bowel disease characterized by inflammation of the lower part of the small intestines or the entire digestive tract.
