Chirorab Injection 1ml is a rabies vaccine used to prevent rabies infection in individuals who are at risk of exposure or have been exposed to the rabies virus. Rabies is a fatal viral disease transmitted through the saliva of infected animals, commonly via bites or scratches.
Composition
- Inactivated Rabies Virus: 2.5 IU (International Units)
Uses
1. Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis: Vaccination against rabies for people at high risk (e.g., veterinarians, laboratory workers).
2. Post-Exposure Prophylaxis: Treatment after exposure to rabies (e.g., animal bite).
Indications
1. Prevention of Rabies: Prevention of rabies in individuals who have been exposed or are at high risk.
2. Treatment of Rabies Exposure: Treatment after exposure to rabies.
Dosage
- Pre-Exposure: 1 injection of 1ml on days 0, 7, and 21 or 28.
- Post-Exposure: 1 injection of 1ml immediately, followed by 1 injection on days 3, 7, 14, and 28.
Side Effects
1. Pain, Redness, or Swelling: At the injection site.
2. Fever: Mild to moderate.
3. Headache: Mild to moderate.
4. Fatigue: Mild to moderate.
Precautions
1. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a doctor before using.
