Diopen-MF Tablet

Diopen-MF Tablet is a combination medicine used to manage type 2 diabetes in adults. It contains two main ingredients: Glibenclamide and Metformin. Both these medicines work together to help control high blood sugar levels in patients whose diabetes cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone.

Ingredients:

  • Glibenclamide 5 mg
  • Metformin 500 mg

Uses:

  • Helps lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.
  • Prevents long-term complications of diabetes like kidney damage, nerve problems, and eye issues.
  • Helps improve the way the body uses insulin.

How It Works:

  • Glibenclamide increases the release of insulin from the pancreas. This helps lower blood sugar after meals.
  • Metformin reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver and also increases the sensitivity of muscles to insulin. This allows the body to use sugar more effectively.

Dosage:

  • Take the medicine as directed by your doctor.
  • Usually taken once or twice daily with meals.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew it.

Side Effects:

  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea or stomach pain
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) with symptoms like sweating, dizziness, fast heartbeat, or hunger
  • Headache or weakness

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine as it may increase the risk of side effects.
  • Inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless advised by your doctor.
  • Regular blood sugar tests and kidney function tests may be required during treatment.

Storage:

  • Store in a cool and dry place, away from sunlight and moisture.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Important Advice:

  • Follow a proper diet and exercise plan as recommended by your doctor.
  • Do not skip meals while taking this medicine to avoid low blood sugar.
  • Carry a small snack or glucose tablet in case you feel symptoms of low sugar.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking to avoid drug interactions.
