Dom DT 5mg Tablet contains Domperidone 5mg, a medicine classified as a dopamine antagonist. It is primarily used to relieve symptoms of nausea and vomiting. This can include nausea and vomiting stemming from various causes such as central or local origins, side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, certain medications, or migraine headaches.

Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms that can arise from different conditions, including infections, food poisoning, motion sickness, overeating, digestive issues, and migraine. Dom DT 5mg Tablet can also help alleviate postprandial (after-meal) discomfort such as feelings of fullness, nausea, bloating in the upper abdomen (epigastric bloating), and belching (burping) that may be accompanied by stomach discomfort or heartburn.

It is important to note that Dom DT 5mg Tablet is not suitable for everyone. It is not recommended for individuals with heart conditions, moderate to severe liver diseases, bleeding in the stomach or intestines, blockages or tears in the intestines, or tumors in the pituitary gland (prolactinoma). Patients with kidney diseases should use Dom DT 5mg Tablet with caution, under a doctor's guidance.

Pregnant women should use Dom DT 5mg Tablet with caution, and breastfeeding women should only use it if clearly deemed necessary by their doctor. Always consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Elderly patients (above 60 years of age) should also use Dom DT 5mg Tablet with caution. This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 35 kg; consult a child's doctor for appropriate advice.

A common side effect of taking Dom DT 5mg Tablet is dry mouth. If this side effect becomes bothersome or does not improve, please consult your doctor.


Uses:

  1. Relief from nausea and vomiting due to central or local causes.
  2. Management of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatments.
  3. Alleviation of nausea and vomiting caused by certain medications.
  4. Treatment of nausea and vomiting symptoms accompanying migraines.
  5. Relief of post-meal symptoms such as fullness, nausea, epigastric bloating, belching, stomach discomfort, and heartburn.

Directions of Use

Always take Dom DT 5mg Tablet exactly as advised by your physician. It is generally recommended to take this medicine before meals to optimize its effect against nausea and vomiting and other digestive issues.

For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse the Dom DT 5mg Tablet in the specific quantity of water indicated on the label or by your pharmacist. Stir well and consume the mixture immediately after it has fully dissolved. Do not crush or chew the tablet if it is a dispersible form meant to be dissolved.

Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment based on your age, body weight, and the specific condition being treated. Continue to take Dom DT 5mg Tablet for the entire duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve the best possible results and sustained relief from symptoms.


Side effects

While taking Dom DT 5mg Tablet, some individuals may experience side effects. The most common side effect is dry mouth.

Stop taking Dom DT 5mg Tablet and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects, which may indicate a more severe reaction:

  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, severe swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
  • Irregular heartbeat (palpitations, fast or slow heart rate).
  • Seizures or fits.
  • Involuntary movements, such as muscle spasms or unusual body movements.
  • Severe dizziness or fainting.
  • Any other severe or persistent side effects not mentioned here.
