Econorm 250mg contains Saccharomyces boulardii 250mg, a beneficial probiotic. This medicine is primarily used to help manage various types of diarrhoea in adults and children.
Econorm 250mg is effective for:
- Treating acute infectious diarrhoea.
- Managing antibiotic-associated diarrhoea (inflammation of the bowel due to antibiotics).
- Preventing recurrent Clostridium difficile infections (a type of colon infection) when used alongside antibiotic treatments like vancomycin or metronidazole.
- Addressing diarrhoea associated with tube feeding.
- Providing support for individuals with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Do not take Econorm 250mg if you are allergic to Saccharomyces boulardii or any of its ingredients. It is also not recommended for patients with a central venous catheter (a long tube inserted into a vein) or individuals who are immunocompromised (have a weakened immune system) or severely hospitalized.
Before starting Econorm 250mg, inform your doctor if you have had a liver transplant. This medicine is generally not recommended for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so always consult your doctor in these cases.
Econorm 250mg should be used with caution in children and adolescents under 18 years of age, and in elderly patients aged 65 years and above. Always consult a doctor before giving this medicine to these age groups.
Common side effects may include constipation, bloating, and faecal incontinence. If any of these symptoms worsen or persist, please consult your doctor.

Side effects
Like all medicines, Econorm 250mg can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The most common side effects associated with Econorm 250mg are:
