You can take this medication with or without food, but it's most effective when taken at the same time each day. In some cases, you may need to take Eliquis 5mg Tablet for many years, or even for life, as advised by your doctor.
It is crucial not to stop taking Eliquis 5mg Tablet or change your dose without consulting your doctor. Doing so could quickly increase your risk of a heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (the formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel). Lifestyle changes, such as avoiding smoking, maintaining a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and losing weight if necessary, can further help reduce your risk of blood clots.
The most common side effect of Eliquis 5mg Tablet (Apixaban 5mg) is bleeding more easily than usual, such as nosebleeds or bruising. If you notice any unusual bleeding or other symptoms, inform your doctor immediately. Other possible side effects include hematoma, anemia, and nausea.
Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney or liver problems, if you are currently experiencing active bleeding, or if you are already taking other medicines that reduce blood clotting. Breastfeeding is not recommended while using Eliquis 5mg Tablet. Unlike some other anticoagulants, routine blood tests (like PT-INR) are generally not required when taking this medication.

- **Hemorrhage (Bleeding):** This is the most common side effect and can manifest as nosebleeds, gum bleeding, or easy bruising.
- **Hematoma:** Collection of blood outside blood vessels, often visible as a bruise.
- **Anemia (low number of red blood cells):** May cause symptoms like tiredness, weakness, or paleness.
- **Bruise:** Easy bruising is a common occurrence.
