Glyciphage VG 2mg Tablet is used in adults to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise, and single-agent or dual therapy are insufficient to adequately control blood sugar levels. This medication contains a combination of three active ingredients: Glimepiride, Metformin, and Voglibose, which work together to help lower high blood sugar levels effectively.
Always take Glyciphage VG 2mg Tablet exactly as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew the tablet.
Glyciphage VG 2mg Tablet is not recommended if you are allergic to Glimepiride, Metformin, Voglibose, or other sulfonylureas or sulphonamides. It should also be avoided by patients with acute conditions (such as severe dehydration or infection), severe ketosis (a serious diabetes complication), severe trauma, lung issues (like acute or chronic respiratory failure), heart problems (such as acute or chronic cardiac failure or recent heart attack), and/or severe kidney or liver problems. Before starting Glyciphage VG 2mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you have recently experienced trauma, have febrile infections, uncontrolled diabetes, hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), chronic intestinal disease, or any other kidney or liver concerns.
This medication is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women as it may potentially harm the developing fetus or nursing child. Glyciphage VG 2mg Tablet is also not suitable for children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Elderly patients (aged 75 years or older) should use this medicine with caution and under strict medical supervision.
The most common side effects associated with Glyciphage VG 2mg Tablet include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, a metallic taste in the mouth, and/or hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
