HUCOG HP INJECTION contains Chorionic gonadotropin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Gonadotropins. It is used to manage hypogonadism (deficiency of sex hormones) in men. It also helps in the release of matured ovum (eggs) from the ovaries (ovulation) among infertile women after undergoing premanagement with suitable hormonal medicines (such as menotropins or FSH).

It also helps in sustaining pregnancy during the early stages among women who experience habitual abortions. It can also be used in the management of prepubertal cryptorchidism (failure of testis to descend into the scrotum) caused by hormone deficiency in young male children (aged between 4 and 9 years).

During management with HUCOG HP INJECTION, your doctor would monitor your health condition through several blood tests and ultrasounds to avoid the risk of side effects like fluid accumulation, abnormally enlarged ovarian follicles, or multiple pregnancies (pregnant with more than one child), especially if you are undergoing assisted reproductive techniques.

Before receiving HUCOG HP INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have any forms of cancer in the ovaries, uterus, breasts, or prostate. You must also inform your doctor if you have any damage in the fallopian tubes, as management with HUCOG HP INJECTION may cause ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside of the womb) in such cases.

HUCOG HP INJECTION may cause a false positive pregnancy result in women who take a pregnancy test using their blood or urine. This effect may last up to 10 days even after discontinuing management with HUCOG HP INJECTION.

HUCOG HP INJECTION may be used to sustain pregnancy during the initial stages (luteal phase). However, it should not be used in the later stages of pregnancy. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

The most common side effects of HUCOG HP INJECTION are reaching puberty at an early age, pain at the injection site, headaches, and irritability. Consult your doctor if they worsen.
