Losakind 50mg Tablet is a medication primarily used to manage high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. It is also prescribed for individuals with hypertension who have left ventricular hypertrophy and for managing kidney problems (nephropathy) in patients with type 2 diabetes. This medicine contains Losartan (50mg), an active ingredient belonging to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs). Losartan works by blocking the effects of Angiotensin II, a natural substance in your body that causes blood vessels to narrow. By blocking this action, Losakind 50mg Tablet helps to relax blood vessels, which in turn lowers blood pressure.
Before you start taking Losakind 50mg Tablet, it's important to discuss your medical history with your doctor. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to Losartan or any of its ingredients, or if you have severe liver or kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you have a history of angioedema (a serious allergic reaction causing swelling), excessive vomiting or diarrhea (which can lead to dehydration), or primary hyperaldosteronism. Losakind 50mg Tablet is not recommended during early pregnancy and must not be taken after the third month of pregnancy, as it can cause serious harm to the baby. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine, as it is not known if Losartan passes into breast milk.
Losakind 50mg Tablet is generally not recommended for children under 6 years of age. Possible side effects include dizziness, general weakness, tiredness, and low blood sugar. In some cases, changes in kidney function may occur, indicated by symptoms like decreased urine output, swelling (edema), or shortness of breath. Anemia is also a reported side effect. - Liver problems: Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), dark urine, persistent nausea or vomiting.
