Lotepred 1% Eye Drop contains Loteprednol Etabonate, a corticosteroid used to treat inflammation and redness in the eyes caused by infections, allergies, or post-surgery.

How It Works:

Loteprednol Etabonate inhibits the release of substances that cause inflammation, thereby reducing swelling, redness, and irritation in the eyes.

Usage Instructions:

  • Dosage: As prescribed by your healthcare provider.

  • Administration:

    • Wash your hands thoroughly before use.
    • Shake the bottle well.
    • Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and instill the prescribed number of drops into the eye.
    • Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes to allow absorption.
  • Frequency: Use as directed by your doctor, typically 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) four times daily.

Common Side Effects:

  • Temporary blurred vision

  • Stinging or burning sensation upon application

  • Dry or watery eyes

  • Feeling like something is in your eye

  • Increased sensitivity to light

If these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Serious Side Effects:

  • Eye pain or swelling

  • Vision changes

  • Signs of eye infection (e.g., redness, severe discomfort, crusting or drainage)

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms.

Precautions:

  • Infections: Do not use if you have untreated eye infections, including viral, fungal, or mycobacterial infections.

  • Contact Lenses: Remove contact lenses before application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.

  • Long-term Use: Prolonged use may increase the risk of glaucoma, cataracts, or secondary eye infections. Regular monitoring by an eye specialist is recommended.

Note: Use Lotepred 1% Eye Drop strictly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Do not discontinue use abruptly without consulting your doctor.
