Minipress XL 2.5mg Tablet, containing Prazosin 2.5mg, is prescribed to manage high blood pressure (hypertension), which helps reduce the risk of serious events like heart attack or stroke. This medicine is also used in the treatment of heart failure and for managing symptoms associated with mild enlargement of the prostate gland, known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
You may be prescribed Minipress XL 2.5mg Tablet alone or in combination with other medications. It can be taken with or without food, as advised by your doctor. The precise dose of Minipress XL 2.5mg Tablet will be determined by your medical condition and how well you respond to treatment. To achieve the best results, it's important to take this medicine regularly as directed. Since high blood pressure often has no noticeable symptoms, continue taking Minipress XL 2.5mg Tablet even if you feel well. Stopping abruptly can cause your blood pressure to rise, increasing your risk of heart attack or stroke. In some cases, Minipress XL 2.5mg Tablet may need to be taken long-term.
Common side effects associated with Minipress XL 2.5mg Tablet include dizziness, headache, nausea, and unusual heartbeats (palpitations). Most of these side effects tend to lessen as your body adjusts to the medication. Minipress XL 2.5mg Tablet can also cause your blood pressure to drop too low, particularly when you first start treatment. Your doctor can provide guidance on how to prevent or manage these potential side effects.
