Description:
Mounjaro KwikPen is an injectable medicine used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It belongs to the class of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. It helps lower blood sugar by increasing insulin release, reducing glucose production in the liver, and slowing digestion.
Uses:
- Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus
- Improves blood sugar control along with diet and exercise
- May help in weight management in diabetic patients
Dosage / How to Use:
- Given as a subcutaneous injection once weekly
- Inject in thigh, abdomen, or upper arm as directed by doctor
- Dose should be taken on the same day each week
- Use the pen only once; do not share with others
Side Effects:
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Decreased appetite
- Abdominal pain
- Low blood sugar (especially if used with other diabetes medicines)
- Rarely, pancreatitis or allergic reaction
Precautions:
- Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Use with caution in patients with kidney, liver, or gastrointestinal disease
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed
- Inform doctor about all ongoing medications before use
Storage:
- Store unused pens in a refrigerator (2°C 8°C). Do not freeze.
- After first use, can be kept at room temperature for up to 21 days.
