OMNITAN 50MG TABLET is used to manage mild to moderate hypertension. It also used to manage hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy and nephropathy in type 2 diabetic patients. It contains Losartan which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive agents. It blocks the effects of Angiotensin II (substance produced in your body which causes narrowing of blood vessels), which leads to relaxation of blood vessels resulting in low blood pressure in affected individuals.

OMNITAN 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to losartan. It is also not recommended for use in patients with severely impaired liver function and kidney function. Before taking the medicine, inform your doctor if you have a history of angioedema and/or suffering from excessive vomiting/diarrhoea, primary hyperaldosteronism kidney problems. OMNITAN 50MG TABLET is not recommended for use in early pregnancy and must not be taken when a woman is more than 3 months pregnant since it may cause serious harm to the baby if used after 3-months of pregnancy. It is not known whether the medicine is excreted in human milk, hence consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

It is not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age. The most common side effects are dizziness, general weakness, tiredness, low blood sugar, changes in kidney function (associated with signs such as decreased urine output, edema, shortness of breath) and/or anaemia. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.
