Overview
Otrivin Advance Nasal Spray 0.05% is a fast-acting decongestant nasal spray formulated with Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride 0.05%. It is specifically designed to provide effective relief from a blocked or stuffy nose, whether caused by common colds, seasonal allergies, sinusitis, or general nasal congestion. This spray works by gently shrinking the swollen blood vessels in your nasal passages, which helps to clear nasal blockage quickly and allows you to breathe more easily.

• Active Ingredient: Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride 0.05%
• Primary Uses:
  • Provides effective relief from nasal congestion, including a blocked or stuffy nose.
  • Helps to ease breathing difficulties when your nose is blocked due to a cold, allergic reactions, or sinus problems.
  • Works to reduce the swelling of the nasal lining (mucosa) and excessive nasal secretions.
• How It Works:
  • The spray causes constriction (narrowing) of dilated blood vessels in the nasal lining.
  • This reduces swelling and opens up nasal passages, allowing air to flow more freely.
• Onset & Duration:
  • Starts working very quickly — often within about 25 seconds.
  • Relief can last up to approximately 12 hours.
• Dosage / How to Use:
  • For adults and children 12 years and older: Administer 1 spray of Otrivin Advance Nasal Spray 0.05% into each nostril, 1–2 times a day, as needed for nasal congestion.
  • Ensure there is a minimum of 8 hours between doses.
  • It is important not to exceed 2 sprays per nostril per day.
  • Before the first use: prime the spray by actuating it into the air until an even mist appears.
  • After each use, clean and dry the nozzle. To prevent the spread of infections, do not share your nasal spray bottle.
• Important Warnings / Precautions:
  • Critical Warning: This product should not be used continuously for more than 10 consecutive days. Prolonged use of decongestant nasal sprays like Otrivin Advance Nasal Spray 0.05% can lead to a condition called rebound congestion (Rhinitis Medicamentosa), where your nasal blockage actually worsens after you stop using the spray.
  • This nasal spray is generally not recommended for children under 12 years of age, unless specifically advised by a doctor.
  • Exercise caution and consult your doctor before using Otrivin Advance Nasal Spray 0.05% if you have pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, or prostate problems.
  • Avoid spraying the solution directly into your eyes.
  • If your nasal congestion symptoms persist beyond the recommended usage period of 10 days, please consult a healthcare professional instead of continuing to use the spray.
• Possible Side Effects: While generally well-tolerated, some individuals may experience:
  • Temporary nasal dryness, or a mild burning or stinging sensation in the nose.
  • Slight irritation inside the nose or throat.
  • In rare cases, particularly in sensitive individuals, an increase in heart rate or blood pressure might occur. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, discontinue use and consult your doctor.
• Storage Advice:
  • Store upright in a cool, dry place.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Ensure cap is closed after use.
