Qutan 50mg Tablet (containing Quetiapine 50mg) is prescribed for the treatment of mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, which can cause hallucinations or delusions and impact a person's thinking and behavior. It is also used to manage mania and depression associated with bipolar disorders.

You can take Qutan 50mg Tablet with or without food, but it's best to take it at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of medication in your body. Follow your doctor's instructions precisely regarding the dose and duration. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. It is crucial not to stop taking this medication suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it could worsen your symptoms. However, discontinue Qutan 50mg Tablet immediately and seek medical attention if you experience Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS), indicated by symptoms like fever, severe muscle stiffness, altered consciousness, or seizures.

Some common side effects associated with Quetiapine 50mg include a decrease in hemoglobin and cholesterol levels, an increase in triglyceride levels in the blood, headache, involuntary movements (extrapyramidal symptoms), dry mouth, and withdrawal symptoms if stopped suddenly. Initially, this medicine may cause a sudden drop in blood pressure when changing positions, so it's advisable to rise slowly if you've been sitting or lying down. It can also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so avoid driving or activities requiring mental focus until you understand how Qutan 50mg Tablet affects you. While this medication may lead to weight gain, adopting a healthy diet and regular exercise can help manage this side effect.

Exercise caution while taking Qutan 50mg Tablet, as it may increase the risk of developing diabetes; regular glucose monitoring is recommended. Inform your doctor if you notice any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts while on this treatment.
