Generic Name: Moxifloxacin
Drug Class: Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic

Overview:

Raymoxi Eye Drops contain Moxifloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial eye infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA replication, effectively stopping the growth and spread of infection-causing bacteria.

This ophthalmic solution is usually available in a 5ml dropper bottle and is prescribed for topical use in the eyes.

Uses:

Raymoxi Eye Drops are commonly prescribed for the treatment of:

  1. Bacterial Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye):
    • Redness, swelling, and discharge caused by bacterial infection.
  2. Keratitis:
    • Inflammation of the cornea due to bacterial infections.
  3. Post-Surgical Eye Infections:
    • Used after cataract surgery or other eye procedures to prevent infection.
  4. Corneal Ulcers:
    • Helps treat bacterial infections that cause ulcers on the cornea.
  5. Other Bacterial Eye Infections:
    • Blepharitis (eyelid inflammation)
    • Endophthalmitis (severe internal eye infection)

Dosage & Administration:

  • Standard Dose: 1 drop in the affected eye(s) every 6 to 8 hours or as prescribed.
  • Duration: Typically 5 to 7 days, depending on the severity of the infection.
  • Application:
    1. Wash hands before use.
    2. Tilt head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid.
    3. Instill one drop into the eye without touching the tip to any surface.
    4. Close the eye for a few minutes and avoid blinking excessively.
    5. If using other eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes before applying.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • For external use onlydo not ingest.
  • Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment.
  • Do not use if the solution appears cloudy or changes color.
  • Possible side effects include temporary eye irritation, redness, burning, or blurred vision.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of eye allergies or prior allergic reactions to fluoroquinolones.
  • Use with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding womenonly if prescribed.
