Uses:

  1. Primary Hypercholesterolemia and Mixed Dyslipidemia: To reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides, and to increase HDL-cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial and nonfamilial) and mixed dyslipidemia.
  2. Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia: As an adjunct to other lipid-lowering treatments (e.g., LDL apheresis) or if such treatments are unavailable.
  3. Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease: To reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, and arterial revascularization procedures in patients at increased risk.
  4. Atherosclerosis: To slow the progression of atherosclerosis in adult patients as part of a treatment strategy to lower total-C and LDL-C to target levels.
