STAPHONEX 500MG contains Flucloxacillin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage infections of the chest, throat, nose, ear, skin and soft tissue, heart, bone, meninges (membrane covering brain), digestive system, blood, kidney, bladder, and urethra. It is also used to prevent infections which occurs during major surgeries especially heart or orthopaedic surgery.

Bacterial infections are caused by multiplication of specific harmful strain of bacteria anywhere in the body. It is characterized by symptoms such as fever, chills, headache, new or sudden worsening of pain and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or abdominal pain.

STAPHONEX 500MG is not recommended for use in patients who are allergic to flucloxacillin, or any other penicillin antibiotics. It is also not recommended for use if you have history of allergic reaction to ?-lactam antibiotics (penicillins, cephalosporins) or history of liver diseases such as jaundice after taking flucloxacillin. It should be used with caution in patients with liver problems or kidney problems such as severe kidney failure. STAPHONEX 500MG should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women.

This medicine should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and elderly patients. The common side effects associated with the use of STAPHONEX 500MG are diarrhoea, stomach upset, nausea and indigestion. Consult your doctor if any of the symptom worsens.
