TFCT-NIB Tablet (15’s)

Name and Composition

TFCT-NIB Tablet contains Tofacitinib 5 mg as the active ingredient.
It belongs to a class of medicines known as Janus Kinase (JAK) inhibitors.

Uses / Indications

TFCT-NIB Tablet is used to treat autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, where the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues.
Main indications include:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis – to reduce joint pain, swelling, and stiffness.
  • Psoriatic arthritis – arthritis associated with psoriasis.
  • Ulcerative colitis – inflammation of the colon and rectum.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis – long-term inflammation of the spine and joints.

How It Works

Tofacitinib blocks Janus kinase (JAK) enzymes, which are involved in the signaling pathways of the immune system.
By inhibiting these enzymes, it helps control abnormal immune activity and reduces inflammation, pain, and swelling in affected areas.

Dosage and Administration

  • The dosage is decided by your doctor based on the condition and response.
  • Usually taken once or twice daily with or without food.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is nearly time for the next dose.
  • Continue taking it as prescribed; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Precautions

Inform your doctor before use if you have:

  • Any active infection (such as TB, hepatitis, or fungal infections).
  • Liver or kidney problems.
  • A history of cancer, heart disease, or high cholesterol.
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Are taking other immune-suppressing drugs.

Avoid live vaccines (like MMR, BCG, or yellow fever) during treatment.
Limit alcohol and smoking as they may worsen side effects or reduce the drug’s safety.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Upper respiratory infections (cold, sore throat)
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea or stomach pain
  • Fatigue or dizziness
  • Increased cholesterol or liver enzymes (seen in tests)

Serious side effects (less common):

  • Shortness of breath or chest pain

Seek immediate medical attention if serious effects occur.
