Salicylic acid softens the top layer of skin and decreases scaling and dryness by causing the skin to shed dead cells from its top layer. It does this by increasing the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolving the "cement" between the cells. Aloe vera helps control acne by moisturizing and soothing the skin.
